'Thorn' - A Destiny Fan Film:

The first ever actual short film I've made. Based around the pre-existing lore of the 'Destiny' universe, this film aimed to tell a visual representation of the first Thorn Grimoire Card. A project that I would one day like to go back and redo, knowing what I know now.

'Cypher' Music Video

The first ever 'official' music video I have made for somebody. It was a collaborative effort between myself, my fellow college students, and a local Nottingham artist who was willing to come in and get a feel for what it would be like working on a music video.

Cinema 4D Model Track Test

As the title implies, this rather short video was one of my firsts attempts at using Cinema 4D in conjunction with After Effects. Though seemingly unimportant, I feel the need to show it of here to act as a bench mark for where I began with the software, so that future examples of myself using that software that may be on this page will better show my proficiency at picking up the software.

'Jumpscare'

My first attempt at creating a small, found-footage style horror short for the ProductionCrate: 10 Second Film Challenge. Once again, this was technically a Fan Work, as it was heavily implied to have been set in the Marble Hornets universe. This would have been the second time I had ever used C4D in a project, however this is, like 'Thorn' a project I would like to revisit at a later date, knowing what I know now.

'Crossover'

Once again, this was created as an entry in ProductionCrate's 10 Second Film Challenge, however were the last entry was my first time working in the 'found-footage' style, this was my first time working extensively with a green-screen. Additionally, it was also my first time trying to compose VFX onto a moving object without proper tracking markers, which at the time, I couldn't find a work around for.

'Ladybug' Title Card

Just with like some of my best work, this too was produced for a Fan Film I was in the process of producing, before due to a multitude of unfortunate circumstances, has been put on hold. This is my most recent use of Cinema 4D, though, this was not done in conjunction with After Effects as I usually do. The disintegration effect, though it may not look like much, I am extremely proud of- as not only have I never done anything like it before, but I did this on the first try after almost a full weeks worth of research.

The Lost One's Weeping - Scene Rendition Test

Though one of the older things I've made, this is definitely one of my favourite things that I've made. Though made more as a proof of concept than anything, this is a live-action recreation of one of the scenes from the 'The Lost One's Weeping' music video, though, without the accompanying music due to copyright issues. At some point in the future, I hope to produce a recreation of the full thing.

Lightsaber Blade VFX Test

In preparation for entering the 2020 Sabercomp, I decided to try my hand at creating a Lightsaber Blade in After Effects. Made using a mixture of flares, Deep Glow, and Video Copilot's Saber plugin for the base, this was the end result. Unfortunately, due to the physical saber used on set, the VFX blade could not be made to completely cover the tracking blade as it was not the correct shape. When my official stunt saber arrives, I plan on redoing this.

Doctor Who Regeneration VFX Test

Though I didn't get quite the effect I had been hoping for, this was my first time using 'tracking markers' in VFX. Unfortunately, I never went back to hide said markers, but given that that objectively wasn't the point of the VFX test, I'm willing to give myself a pass on that. This is also one of the first time I filmed any sort of footage from a first person perspective.

The Kickboxing Academy - Short Advert

The first of two adverts I produced for my Kickboxing Academy. Also the first of the first two adverts I've ever made, so, I personally don't think I did too bad all things considered. There are a few things that I wish I could have changed, but given that the whole thing was filmed, choreographed, directed, and edited by just me alone, I'd say I did a good job.

The Kickboxing Academy - Medium Advert

The second of the two adverts I produced for my Kickboxing Academy. Also the second of the first two adverts I've ever made, so, I personally don't think I did too bad all things considered. There are a few things that I wish I could have changed, but given that the whole thing was filmed, choreographed, directed, and edited by just me alone, I'd say I did a good job.

Out of the two, this is my personal favourite.

Cosplay; why

Out of all the things I've professionally produced up to this point, I have to say that this is one of, if not my actual, favourite. Created initially as an assignment, this documentary like most of the things I have made, was written, directed, acted, and edited by me. It's also one of my better uses of lighting.

Cataclysm VFX

Back during the development phase of my benched short film 'Ladybug', this was one of the VFX tests done for one of the main character's superpowers. Once again, as this was just a test of whether or not I could actually pull off the effect, I unfortunately never hid the tracking markers.

Force Blast VFX Test

Made before the release of the 2020 set of rules for the SaberComp short film competition, this VFX test was done in preparation for the idea that we had initially wanted to submit. Though there was a small portion in which the track did not stick, that would be an easy fix, and had I still had the original file to edit I would have done so.

Eye-Tracking VFX Test

Made before the release of the 2020 set of rules for the SaberComp short film competition, this VFX test was done in preparation for the idea that we had initially wanted to submit. Though there was a small portion in which the track did not stick, that would be an easy fix, and had I still had the original file to edit I would have done so.

National Citizens Service: Project Pollution Assignment

If I had my way, this video would never see the light of day again, however purely because it is, as of right now, the earliest thing I have ever produced, I feel it sadly has a place in my portfolio. Shot on nothing but a standard phone, before I had any sort of education in film, and edited in what I can only imagine was Windows Movie Maker, this was produced alongside a Facebook page and filers, to promote picking up litter in Chesterfield.
